Microsoft ending support

Microsoft announced that they have ended support for Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 on January 14, 2020. They no longer provide security updates or technical support for systems running Windows 7 or 2008/2008 R2 servers. See Microsoft's Windows 7 announcement External link and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 announcement External link for more information.

What does this mean for me?

Thomson Reuters no longer supports its products on Windows 7 operating systems or Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2. You must upgrade any workstations or servers that require access to Thomson Reuters products to a supported operating system. This includes CS Professional Suite products on desktop and VO/SaaS environments, GoSystem Tax RS, GoFileRoom, AdvanceFlow, Checkpoint, and Onvio.

If you attempt to access your Thomson Reuters product via an unsupported environment, you acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for any issues that may arise, and that Thomson Reuters is not responsible for providing any support in any manner. In addition, Thomson Reuters is not liable for any damages that may result from utilizing the unsupported environment. You can access the minimum system requirements on the CS Professional Suite Support page.

See Unsupported environments for CS Professional Suite for more information on all unsupported environments and the scope of support.

VO/SaaS

VO/SaaS firms' data and applications are hosted on supported Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft SQL versions as we adhere to Microsoft's published product End of Life schedules. It is important that the workstations used to access VO/SaaS are also running supported versions of Windows as unsupported operating systems can leave any internet connected workstation vulnerable.

Why is it important to update?

Working on these environments increases your security risks, degrades performance, and leaves your firm vulnerable to attack and exploitation. Upgrading your server(s) and workstation(s) safeguards you and your client data. Considering how cybercriminals target accounting firms for sensitive information, the risks are significant. For more information about protecting your firm and clients from cybercriminals and security threats, see Protecting Your Firm's Client Data From Cybercriminals: 5 Common Questions and always consult with a qualified IT professional.

What are my options for updating?
