Application changes
- We have added the ability to create multiple Form 1099-MISC internet files for the same client via the Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen. For more information, see Printing 1099 forms. (Accounting CS Ideas Community #1337)
- In the 2017.4.0 Accounting CS release, we changed the behavior of the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen (during Form 1099 processing) to display only the clients that would actually receive 1099s for the current processing year. This change had an adverse effect on performance for some firms. Therefore, we have temporarily reverted this behavior, and the screen once again displays all clients that are available for 1099 form processing, even if there is no current-year information to process for a client.
- California. Effective January 1, 2018, the State of California has mandated all employers to electronically submit employment tax returns, wage reports, and payroll tax deposits to the Employment Development Department (EDD). Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method from Form DE 88ALL. You can file this form using the Electronic filing method or online via e-Services for Business.
Note: We will remove the Paper filing method for all other California forms in a future application update. - We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, prevented the application from saving overrides to 1099 form types in the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen for the selected client.
Payroll form and filing information
The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet on the Home or Firm dashboard provides valuable information for federal, state, and certain local tax agents. Click the U.S. flag (for federal information) and the map (for state and local information) to view detailed information in the tabbed pages in the lower section of the portlet. For information on working with portlets, see Dashboard portlet: Payroll Form and Filing Information.
