General

  • We have addressed an issue with unprinted checks in the Actions > Reconcile Bank Accounts screen. Details

Accounting

  • You can now invite your clients to register for OnBalance Express, a cloud-based accounting application that helps small business owners run their business from anywhere with ease. Details

OnBalance Express combines the accessibility and security of cloud accounting while simplifying customer tracking, vendor tracking, invoicing, online payments, expense tracking, banking and reporting with its innovative dashboard design.

We have made the following enhancements for integration with OnBalance.

    • We have added the OnBalance Services section to the Add/Remove Services dialog in the Setup > Clients screen.
    • We have added the File > Import > OnBalance menu command.
  • We have addressed the following issues.
    • Certain issues occurred with the Color and Separator fields in the Account Mask tab of the Setup > Clients screen. Details
      • Accounting CS froze when you attempted to click or TAB into the Color field.
      • Accounting CS required you to make a selection when you clicked or TABBED into the Separator field.
    • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS incorrectly cleared values in the Year End Close dialog. Details

If you closed accounts by individual segments and navigated back and forth between each segment code, Accounting CS cleared the values in the Distribution of Balance Sheet Accounts grid in the Year End Close dialog.

    • In certain circumstances, the Multiple Selection dialog accessed from the Segment Selections dialog displayed extra rows. Details

This issue occurred if you filtered by segment code in the Segment Selections dialog (accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the Segment field in the View Maintenance dialog).

    • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS incorrectly reset the date of proxy transactions when you entered balances in the Actions > Enter Trial Balance screen. Details

This issue occurred if you changed the beginning balance of a GL account associated with a bank account.

    Accounts Payable

    • We have addressed the following issue.
      • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS displayed an unrelated error message instead of the appropriate message in the Actions > Manage Payments screen. Details

This issue occurred when the applied date set in the application was prior to the posting period of the payable or payment.

    Accounts Receivable

    • We have addressed the following issues.
      • The following issues occurred in the Actions > Manage Customer Payments screen and the Actions > Apply Customer Payments screen.
        • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS displayed an unrelated error message instead of the appropriate message. Details

This issue occurred when the applied date set in the application was prior to the posting period of the invoice or payment.

        • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS did not apply transactions. Details

This issue occurred when the client’s current posting period was set to a fiscal year prior to the posting periods of the transactions being applied.

      • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS displayed and saved the wrong sales tax item on invoice templates in the Setup > Invoice Templates screen.

Import of client data from QuickBooks Pro

    • We have addressed an issue that caused Accounting CS to import some, but not all, transactions within a specified date range from QuickBooks Pro.

    Reports

    • We have made performance improvements to the speed of previewing and printing balance-based reports and financial statements. These improvements mainly impact performance for larger client records that have a significant number of GL accounts and account segments.
    • We have addressed the following issues.
      • Accounting CS closed during attempts to preview or print the Tax Reconciliation Worksheet - Detailed accounting report.
      • In certain circumstances, the Multiple Selection dialog for segment code selections displayed extra rows. Details
      • Certain accounting reports did not reflect the settings in the Journal Entry Format section of the report options. Details

Accounting CS erroneously applied the settings for the previously selected report to subsequent reports.

    Report Designer

    • We have addressed the following issues.
      • In certain circumstances, the Multiple Selection dialog accessed from the Segment Selections dialog displayed extra rows. Details

This issue occurred if you filtered by segment code in the Segment Selections dialog (accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the Segments field in the Cell Properties or Column Properties pane).

      • In certain circumstances, report data was incorrect for reports using row conditional expressions. Details

        With multiple condition tabs:

        • The If false, test next condition logic sometimes skipped ahead to test subsequent conditions.
        • The If false, print logic printed only the beginning row, instead of the entire range of rows, when a row range was specified.
      • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS closed during attempts to refresh the preview window if more than one preview window was open for the same report.

    Layouts

    • We have addressed an issue that caused Accounting CS to close during attempts to print checks using a check layout that contained the MICR Line variable, but did not contain the Check Number variable.

    General - Payroll

    • InterceptEFT is now Kotapay. We have replaced all references of InterceptEFT with Kotapay within the Accounting CS interface and the Help & How-To Center.
    •  We have updated the workers’ compensation wage limits for 2018 for North Dakota and Pennsylvania.

    •  Kentucky. We have added a field to the Unemployment Rate dialog. Details

The dialog is accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the UI base rate field in the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen. The SCUF / Surcharge rate field accommodates the new Service Capacity Upgrade Fund (SCUF) surcharge rate of 0.075%, which became effective July 1, 2018.

    •  Rhode Island. We have addressed an issue that sometimes prevented the alternate unemployment tax wage limit from being used even though the Alternate wage limit checkbox was marked for the client. Details

The checkbox is found in the Unemployment Rate dialog (accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the UI base rate field in the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen).

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing

In addition to the changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

    • We have updated impound payment transactions. Details

Accounting CS now keeps the Journal and Posting period fields enabled in the Actions > Enter Transactions screen and includes them in the Transactions grid for the Edit action in the Edit Multiple Transactions dialog.

    • We have addressed an issue with the Payroll Tracking portlet. Details

Accounting CS closed when you tried to view the Payroll Tracking portlet in the Firm Dashboard or Staff Dashboard if client custom fields were included in the Column Setup grid in the Payroll Tracking tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen.

    • For every release, be sure to check the Updates for payroll tax rates, limits, and minimum wage rates (year to date) article to stay on top of changes that may affect your firm and clients.

    Payroll compliance
