General

  • We have added the Bank Feeds – Update Account dialog in the Bank Feeds portlet of the Bank Feeds Dashboard. Details
Accounting CS automatically opens this dialog during attempts to retrieve data for a linked account when user action is required, such as updating credentials or answering security questions.

Accounting

  • We have updated the Export Client Data Wizard for tax exports to Lacerte, ProSystem fx, and ProSeries for the 2018 tax year.
  • We have updated the tax codes that are available for selection in the Setup > Chart of Accounts screen and the Actions > Enter Trial Balance screen for integration with the 2018 versions of UltraTax CS and GoSystem Tax RS.
  • We have updated the following PDF documents for the 2018 tax year.
  • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, prevented the File > Transfer Client Information dialog from transferring accounts with the Chart of Accounts data type. Details
This issue occurred when certain clients with a segmented chart of accounts were selected as the source client from which to transfer the accounts.

Workpapers CS

  • We have added the Engagement Binder Portlet to the Firm Dashboard. Details
The Engagement Binder Portlet enables you to roll forward multiple Tax Return binders at the same time.
  • We have updated the Tax Return binder templates for the 2018 tax year. This includes the predefined tax-related folders that are created in the engagement binder when you create a new tax engagement. Details
When setting up a new tax engagement in the Setup > Engagement Binders screen, be sure to select Tax Return in the Type field and either UltraTax CS or GoSystem Tax in the Source field.

Reports

  • We have updated the Tax Code Worksheet accounting report for the 2018 tax year.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, Accounting CS will not overwrite your existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.

  • We have addressed an issue in the File > Print Reports screen that, in certain circumstances, caused Accounting CS to default to the incorrect Date field option for reports. Details
When individual reports were selected within a report profile, or when individual reports with saved report options were selected, the selection in the Date field defaulted to the first option in the drop-down list.

Report Designer

  • We have added variables to the Client > State Tax Information > Unemployment section of the variable tree. Details

  • We have updated the State section of the Tax Exemptions tab of the Setup > Payroll Items screen to separate the State Disability/Family Leave Insurance tax into separate line items: State Disability Insurance and State Family Leave Insurance. Important details
If the State Disability/Family Leave Insurance checkbox was marked for a payroll item prior to this update, the State Disability Insurance checkbox is marked for the payroll item automatically. The State Family Leave Insurance checkbox is not marked automatically. Mark the checkbox if you want the state FLI tax item to be exempt from taxable wages and tax calculations.
  • New York. We have added the New York Employer Compensation Expense Tax (ECET) to the application. For more information, see New York Employer Compensation Tax (ECET) information.
  • Washington. We have added the Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (FLI) tax that becomes effective January 1, 2019. For more information, see Washington FLI calculations.

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing

In addition to the changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

Payroll compliance

  • We have made the following enhancements to the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen for 1099 form processing.
    • Form 1099 client information now populates more quickly in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen when the Display all available clients for 1099 form processing checkbox is unmarked in the Preferences tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen.
    • We have updated the Recipient Data tab in the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen to reduce or remove the need to scroll during data-entry. (Accounting CS Ideas Community #2657)
  • The following state agencies now require all employers to file the following forms electronically. Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method for the forms.
    • Colorado. Colorado State Treasurer - Forms UITR-1 and UITR-1a: We have added the Web fill-in method. You can file Form UITR-1a using the Internet filing method.
    • Illinois. Illinois Department of Revenue - Form W-2 Copy 1: You can file the form using the Internet filing method.
    • North Carolina. North Carolina Department of Revenue - Forms NC-3 and W-2 Copy 1: You can file the forms using the Internet filing method.
    • Virginia. Virginia Department of Taxation - Form W-2 Copy 1: You can file the form using the Internet filing method.
  • Kentucky. Effective January 1, 2019, the Kentucky State Treasurer has changed its W-2 filing requirements.
    • All employers with 26 or more employees are required to file Form W-2 Copy 1 electronically and are no longer allowed to submit paper copies of the form.
    • Employers with 25 or fewer employees are encouraged to file Form W-2 Copy 1 electronically and are no longer allowed to submit paper copies of the form. For those that still prefer to file via paper, the Kentucky State Treasurer requires Form K-5 to be filed.

Therefore, we have made the following changes in the application.

    • We have removed the Paper filing method from Form W-2 Copy 1. You can file the form using the Internet filing method.
    • We have added Form K-5 as an annual reconciliation form with the Paper filing method.
    • We have removed Form 42A806, because this form is no longer required to be filed when submitting Form W-2 Copy 1 electronically.
  • Louisiana. We have made the following changes.
    • We have removed the Paper filing method from Form W-2 Copy 1.  You can file the form using the Internet filing method.
    • We have renamed the W-2 transmittal Form L-3. It is now called LA Transmittal.
    • We have renamed the annual reconciliation Form L-3 – Paper. It is now called Form L-3.
  • Utah. The Utah State Tax Commission no longer requires employers to file Form TC-941R-TC-941RPC. Therefore, we have removed the form from the application.
  • Virginia. We have added Annually to the Deposit Schedule drop-down list in the State section of the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen.
  • Wisconsin. We have added the ability to file Form W-2 Copy 1 electronically via FSET. The Internet filing method is no longer available for the form. For more information, see Wisconsin payroll tax form information.
  • We have addressed an issue that prevented Accounting CS from data sharing W-2 information with UltraTax CS if the W-2 forms were processed from the print preview screen.
  • We have addressed an issue that caused certain numbers on 1099 forms to display as decimal values instead of whole integers.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of the 1099 layouts, the application will not overwrite your existing layouts with the updated versions. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized layouts manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined versions using the Layout Designer. To do the latter, expand the 1099 Forms tree and select the layout from the Layouts list pane in the Layout Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.
