Question

Some of the data is missing in my custom report.  How do I locate which row is incorrect?

Answer

While editing a report, using color coding to isolate rows will help distinguish any missing information. The following example illustrates using color coding in nested repeating levels.  Notice each color designates a different section of the report. Show me.

Color 1

When previewing the report, the missing data in the yellow row reveals there is a possible issue with rows 12 and 13. Show me.

In this report, the conditional expression was formatted incorrectly.  Once the correction is applied, the report will display the missing data. Show me.

The color coding can be removed when the edits are complete.

Use the following steps to add color to the rows in a report.

To open a report or financial statement for editing, choose File > Report Designer. In the Reports list frame, click the + sign next to the document type folder to expand the list, and then double-click a report or financial statement layout to open it in the design grid.

Prior to making changes to a report you may wish to save the original copy by choosing File > Save As.

  1. In the design grid, select the row that you want to change the color.
  2. Go to the Formatting Toolbar and select a fill color for the cell background from the available color palette. Show me.

  3. Save the report changes by choosing File > Save As.
