E-filing notes

Forms 96-048

  • Registration with the State of Iowa is required to become a bulk filer prior to sending your files.
  • File fixed width text file
  • Navigate to the Iowa Department of Revenue website, log in to GovConnectIowa, and then upload the files.

Form 65-5300

  • Registration is required to obtain a state-issued EFIN which is required for electronic filing.
  • File format - FSET

  • Note: There is a per-return transmission cost for electronically filing federal 94x forms; enrollment files do not accrue a fee. There is no additional transmission cost for electronically filing state forms. For more information, see Common questions about FSET.
  • If you are using the Electronic filing method, (recommended for large employers or service providers) you can get more information on setting up a Secure File Transfer by contacting the My Iowa UI Customer Service team via phone (888-848-7442) or emailing them at iwduitax@iwd.iowa.gov.
  • Enter the Iowa EFIN and Reporting agent PIN in the Transmission Information dialog, accessed from the Actions > Process Electronic Forms screen.
