Use the Negative Check Treatment dialog to specify how negative net payroll checks should be handled.

The Negative Check Treatment dialog displays when you enter unprinted payroll checks that have negative net pay amounts in the Enter Transactions screen or the Enter Batch Payroll Checks screen.

Fields & buttons

  • How would you like the checks to be adjusted?
    • Return and edit the checks so they are no longer negative. Choose this option to not record the shortfall amounts and to close this dialog so you can manually edit the payroll check.
    • Reduce the items as indicated. Choose this option to make available the drop-down lists for the Deductions and Taxes fields. To choose only selected deductions or taxes, select Selected from the drop-down list and then click the Ellipsis button to open the Select Deductions dialog or the Select Taxes dialog.
  • Negative Check Treatment grid. This grid displays the ID, name, and net pay amount for the employee payroll checks that have negative net pay amounts.
