Use the Page Setup dialog to set up your reports before you print them.

In the Report Designer, with a report open, choose File > Page Setup.

Tabbed pages in this dialog

Select the paper size, margin settings, orientation (portrait or landscape), centering position on page, and paper source.

Adjust the following margins for a report, letter, or financial statement.

  • Top margin. Distance from the top of the page to where the body of the report begins. To edit the top margin, be sure to clear the Adjust top margin to begin after header ends checkbox.
  • Adjust top margin to begin after header ends. Mark this checkbox to apply top margin settings to the main body of the report following the header section.
  • Bottom margin. Distance from the bottom of the page to where the body of the report ends.
  • Left margin. Distance from the left side of the page to where the body of the report begins.
  • Right margin. Distance from the right side of the page to where the body of the report ends.
  • Header. Distance from the top of the page to where the header of the report begins. (Note: If you do not leave enough space between the header and the top margin, the header will be truncated.)
  • Footer. Distance from the bottom of the page to where the footer of the report begins. (Note: If you do not leave enough space between the footer and the bottom margin, the footer will be truncated.)

Note: The option Adjust top margin to begin after header ends is unavailable (grayed) for letters.

Select the Center on Page options for a report, letter, or financial statement.

  • Horizontal. Mark this checkbox to center the body of the report between the left and right margins of the page.
  • Vertical. Mark this checkbox to center the body of the report between the top and bottom margins of the page.

Note: The Center on Page options are unavailable (grayed) for letters.

Select the pages on the report and select where headers and footers need to print and choose the appropriate date options. For details, see Making report options available at print time.

Note: The options that you select for a report on this tab flow to the File > Print Reports screen and the File > Print - Options dialog for the same report.

Choose to print and customize a watermark to print on your report.

  • No watermark. Report prints without any watermark present.
  • Text watermark
    • Text. Select a predefined watermark or enter your own custom watermark.
    • Font. Select a font type.
    • Size. Select a font size.
    • Color. Select a font color.
    • Layout. Choose to display the watermark on a report in a Diagonal or Horizontal orientation.
    • Transparency. Use the slider or enter a number in the field next to the slider to set the level of transparency on the report. The greater the transparency number, the more visible it will be on the report.
  • Border. Click one of the following buttons to define the border. None, Box, Shadow, or Custom.
  • Settings. Select a border line style, border line color, width, and select which pages to apply the border (All, First page only, or All except first page). Preview the results of your changes in the pane on the right side of the dialog.
  • Margins. Set the top, bottom, left, and right margins for the report (in inches).

    Note: Be sure to set your margins outside of the margin selections that are defined on the Paper tab.
