For licensed users of Accounting CS Workpapers

There are a number of portlets that are available in the Workpapers Dashboard that can be customized according to your needs. You can easily move, resize, and reposition portlets in the engagement workspace for maximum flexibility. You can open all the portlets in a single tabbed dashboard view, or create multiple tabbed pages that contain a different set of portlets.

Choose View > Workpapers Dashboard.

Note: You can view only a single client's engagement binders in the Workpapers Dashboard at one time.

Adding and removing views

In the Workpapers Dashboard there are a number of tabs across the top of the workspace, called views. You can use the following steps to add and remove views in the Workpapers Dashboard.

  1. Click the Add View link in the top right corner of the Workpapers Dashboard, or right-click at the top of the dashboard and choose Add View.
  2. Enter a description for the new view and click OK. (The description is the label for the tab.)
  3. To remove a view, click the x button button on the tab, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Adding portlets

To add portlets to the dashboard, click the Select Portlets link in the top-right corner of the screen, or right-click in the dashboard and choose Select Portlets from the context menu. In the Select Portlets dialog, mark the checkbox next to the portlets that you want to add and click OK.

Additional information

  • The following items must be set up and/or enabled to be able to see the Workpapers Dashboard in the application.
  • The blank Workpapers Dashboard screen is displayed in the main application when the Workpapers Dashboard is open in a separate window. You can move to any client-specific screen in the main application, such as the Enter Trial Balance, Engagement Binder, or Clients screens when the Workpapers Dashboard is open. However, if you open a screen in the main application that is not a client- based screen—for example, a screen that does not contain the client selector, such as the Firm screen—the Workpapers Dashboard closes automatically.
  • The advantage of opening the Workpapers Dashboard in a separate window from the main application is that it provides you with the ability to optimize your workspace in a multi-monitor environment.

Note: To open a different client's engagement binder in the Workpapers Dashboard, you must return to the main application screen and select that client from the client selector in the top-right corner of the screen. The Workpapers Dashboard is automatically refreshed to display the new client's binder in the Engagement Binder Tree. (Note: It is not necessary to close or re-open the Workpapers Dashboard, or update the client data in the main application screen prior the changing the client.)

There is no limit to the number of workpapers and folders that you can add to the Engagement Binder. You can import, insert, and open any of the following file types in the application.
