Use the SSN tab to create a text file that you can send to the Social Security Administration (SSA) to verify that employee social security numbers and names entered in the application match those on file with the SSA.

Choose Actions > Verify SSN/TIN and then click the SSN tab.

The files are stored in the location displayed at the bottom of the screen. You can change the location by choosing Setup > File Locations and modifying the SSN verification path. When a file is created, you can upload it to the appropriate agency via their website.

Fields & buttons

When this checkbox is marked, all employees are displayed in the SSN grid. When the checkbox is not marked (the default state), only those clients/employees with unverified social security numbers display in the grid.

The SSN grid contains a list of all clients and their employees. When the Show Verified checkbox is unmarked (the default state), only those employees with unverified social security numbers display in the grid. Click the plus sign next to the client ID to expand the grid and display the individual employee records. Mark the checkbox next to each employee that you wish to include in the verification file to be sent to the SSA.

To create a compressed file to send to the SSA, mark the Compress File checkbox before clicking the Create File button. The SSA accepts both compressed and uncompressed files.
