Accounting CS provides several shortcuts for entering dates throughout the application. The following information applies to all date fields throughout the application.

  • You can click the Selection button button or press F4 in any date field to open an onscreen calendar and select the date.
  • You can use shortcut keys to increment (or decrement) a date by one day:
    • For a date field within a grid, press CTRL++ on your keyboard to increment the date (or press CTRL+– to decrement the date).
    • For a date field not within a grid, press ↑ or CTRL++ on your keyboard to increment the date (or press ↓ or CTRL+– to decrement the date).
  • If you enter a one- or two-digit number within a date field, the application interprets that number as the day. It automatically adds the current month and year when you move to the next field. If you enter 31 in a short month, the application automatically enters the last day of the current month.
  • If you enter a three- or four-digit number within a date field, the application interprets that number as the month and day, always using the last two digits as the day. It automatically adds the current year when you move to the next field. If you enter 31 for the last two digits, the application automatically enters the last day of the current month.
  • If you enter an invalid date or a value that cannot be converted (for example, a number larger than 12 for a month or larger than 31 for a day), the application will leave the date field blank, or "(none)".

Examples (assuming the current date is February 19, 2016)

If you enter... The date defaults to...
15 2/15/16
215 2/15/16
31 2/29/16
45 (none)
111 1/11/16
1101 11/1/16
