Help & How-To Center content for the Creative Solutions Accounting platform may be outdated and is used at your own risk.

By default, all Creative Solutions Accounting users are able to access all windows and dialogs in the program. However, you may restrict access to certain areas of the program by defining a master password when you first install the Creative Solutions Accounting licenses and then by marking areas to restrict on the Security tab or the Groups tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.

Using a master password enables you to restrict access to any or all of the global setup functions in CSA (affecting all clients). This security feature is designed to help prevent accidental data problems or deletions.

The master password and the Security settings that are user-defined on the Security tab or the Groups tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog are intended to limit access to sensitive client information. However, client passwords can be assigned either from the File > New Client dialog or from the File > Client Properties dialog. In addition, one of the options in the Security dialog enables a master password user to restrict the ability of others to assign new client passwords or to access client data via the Client Manager software.

Notes

  • A user must know and enter the master password to access areas of the CSA programs that have been restricted via the security settings accessed from the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.
  • To change the master password, open the Firm tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog. Enter the current master password and then click the Modify button.
  • Be sure that only authorized persons know and are given rights to change the master password.
  • If you have forgotten your master password, your firm's licensee may contact CS Customer Service at 800.968.0600 to request assistance.
