Sample clients

Note: Some of the sample clients contain the default global financial statements and charts while others contain specialized statements for different entity types or different presentation possibilities. To view these financial statements and charts, please refer to the Sample Statements and Charts PDF.

Sample clients and descriptions

CSBAN01, Bank Reconciliation Sample Client
This client is designed to be used during the Bank Reconciliation WalkThrough (PDF). It also contains a sample electronic bank statement file to import into the client.

CSCBS01, CheckWriter Sample Company
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a new client that will be using CBS CheckWriter.

CSGOV01, Nonprofit Sample Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a nonprofit client. The Chart of Accounts is set up using locations and departments to illustrate accounting for different government funds. It includes sample financial statements compliant with GASB 34.

CSLOC01, Sample Location and Department Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a client that will be using up to 99 locations and 99 departments.

CSMAN01, Sample Manufacturing Company
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a client that requires inventory and cost of goods sold. It includes expense accounts for Material Purchases (500) and Changes in Inventory (599).

CSNON01, Nonprofit Sample Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a nonprofit client. It includes the financial statements unique to a nonprofit entity and accounts for Grants Receivable- Unrestricted (120), Grants Receivable- Temporary (121), and Grants Receivable- Unrestricted (122).

CSNON02, Nonprofit Sample Client #2
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a nonprofit client. The Chart of Accounts is set up using locations and departments to illustrate accounting for different government funds. It includes sample financial statements compliant with GASB 34.

CSPAY01, Payroll Sample Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a client that includes payroll.

CSPTR01, Sample Partnership Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a partnership client. It includes capital accounts and net income share accounts for four partners.

CSSMCI, South Mountain Communications, Inc.
This client is used in the Write-Up CS Tutorial (PDF) and other training materials.

CSSOL01, Sample Sole Proprietor Client
This client can be used as a reference for setting up a sole proprietor client.

CSW2S01, W-2 Template Client
This client can be used as a template or reference for setting up a client for whom you do not perform monthly processing but only print W-2s at year end.

CSWRI01, Write-Up Sample Client
This client is used in the walkthrough section of the Write-Up CS Getting Started (PDF) as well as other training materials.

CSWRI02, Write-Up Sample Client #2
This client is similar to CSWRI01 except that the fixed asset, liability, and equity accounts utilize sub-accounts to record and segregate activity in the accounts. The financial statements are formatted uniquely to accommodate this.

CSWRI03, Write-Up Sample Client #3
This client is similar to CSWRI01 except that it contains different variations of the standard balance sheets.

CSWRI04, Write-Up Sample Client #4
This client is similar to CSWRI01 but also includes Trial Balance CS plus following additional features:

Client templates

The client templates contain the same basic client information but use a Chart of Accounts specific to their purpose, with account groups assigned accordingly. Details on each client template.

Note: All client templates contain the following:

  • Chart of Accounts mask, CCCCCCC.CCC.
  • Chart of Accounts, four-digit account numbers
  • Default employee templates and departments
  • Default payroll department
  • Default global financial statements
  • Account groups defined with accounts
  • Default global transmittal letters

The client templates do not contain:

  • Transactions
  • Account balances
  • Employees
  • Vendors
