In addition to the default transmittal letters provided with CSA and any custom transmittal letters you have added for all clients of a particular entity type, you can add client-specific text to a transmittal letter for the open client.

You can create your own custom text variables to insert into a client document by choosing Setup > System Configuration > Text Variables from the CSA main window.

Inserting a custom text variable into an existing transmittal letter

  1. From the Transmittal Letter Editor, choose File > Open Letter and then select either Client Letter or Global Letter. (Client letters are saved in the client data folder; global letters are saved in the C:\WINCSI\CSAsys\Documents folder.)
  2. In the Open Client Letter or Open Global Letter dialog, double-click the transmittal letter to open it.
  3. Place the cursor at the position where the new text variable should inserted, choose Insert > Variable (or press CTRL+I), and select the Text option.
  4. Highlight the desired text variable, and then click OK.
  5. Save the letter by choosing File > Save Letter (to replace the existing copy of the letter) or File > Save Letter As (to save under a new name).
  6. Choose File > Exit Letter Editor to close the Transmittal Letter Editor.

Note: The transmittal letters provided with your CSA software already include the client-specific text variables. If you are using custom transmittal letters, you may need to insert variables into your letter. For a complete list of client-specific variables, choose Insert > Variable, and select the Text option.
