You can easily add new workpapers to an engagement by dragging and dropping the item with your mouse pointer from Windows Explorer to the Tree View window in the engagement workspace.

Use the following steps to drag and drop a document into an engagement.

  1. Browse to the location of the document or workpaper that you wish to import into the engagement from Windows Explorer.
  2. Adjust the size of both the document location in Windows Explorer and Engagement CS so that both appear on your computer screen.
  3. Left click to select the document and move it from its original location in Windows Explorer to the appropriate engagement folder in the Tree View window of Engagement CS.
  4. Enter the name, workpaper reference, assign a staff member, and select the treatment for the document during roll forward in the New Engagement Document Properties page


  • The drag-and-drop functionality follow the same rules as normal Windows applications.
  • When multiple files are selected and dragged into the engagement workspace at the same time, they are treated as separate workpapers and require unique names and references in the New Engagement Document Properties page.
  • Email messages can be dragged into the engagement and open in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express when they are selected from the engagement workspace.
