Local Client Data (LCD) consists of assigned workpapers and/or documents assigned by the staff in charge of the Master Client Data (MCD) and sent via a transfer file. Only those staff members working in the field who have the appropriate privileges to access and update the engagement may receive this data.

Staff members who have been assigned to work on an engagement in the field must meet the following criteria to receive a transfer file:

  • Engagement CS must be installed on their laptops or workstations.
  • Engagement-specific privileges must be set up for the staff member(s) assigned to the current engagement by the staff in charge of the engagement in the Engagement Properties [File menu] or the New Engagement Wizard.
  • Assigned transfer files must be made available on a common network location or removable media for staff member(s) to receive.
Notes
  • Excel and Word documents in the Local Client Data (LCD) that are assigned to other staff members in the Local Client Data (LCD) can be opened as read-only in their native applications. To open a document that is assigned to another staff member in the LCD, highlight the document in the Tree View window, choose Edit > Open (Read-Only) or right-click and choose the same option from the context menu.
  • Unassigned engagement documents in the LCD are unavailable (grayed) in the LCD.
  • Documents and workpapers assigned to the current staff ID in the LCD can be reassigned and transferred to other staff members working in the field.
