You can choose Tasks > Receive Documents in Engagement CS to receive a transfer file that consists of workpapers and documents either from the Master Client Data (MCD) or another staff member working in the Local Client Data (LCD). In the Receive Documents dialog, browse to the location where the transfer file resides, either on a shared location on the network or on shared media, such as a read/write CD, or other removable media.

Staff members who have been assigned to work on an engagement in the field must meet the following criteria to receive a transfer file:

  • The same version of Engagement CS must be installed on the workstation that produces the Master Client Data (MCD) and all laptops or workstations in that are used in the field.
  • The appropriate group privileges must already be set up in the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog in CSA. See Setting up group and staff privileges for users of Engagement CS. The engagement properties group privileges are transferred during the Send and Receive processes.
Note: The staff in charge of the engagement may override the global privileges on the Engagement Properties [File menu] Engagement Properties dialog at the engagement level.
  • Transfer files must be available on a shared network location or other removable media for staff member(s) to receive.
Note: If you are receiving the transfer file from a removable media like a read/write CD, you do not need to be connected to the network.
  • Workpapers can be reassigned from the Local Client Data (LCD). (See Reassigning a checked-out workpaper or document for details.)
  • When you are working in the same office and connected to the same network as the Master Client Data (MCD) you can also choose to enable multi-staff functionality in Engagement CS. This feature provides an alternative to sending and receiving documents to and from the Local Client Data (LCD).
(For details, see Multi-staff functionality in Engagement CS - Overview.)
  • Multiple transfer files can be received into the Master Client Data (MCD) at the same time.
