Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

For details, see CSA license expiration 2017 – frequently asked questions.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of these CSA modules.

Is Engagement CS being discontinued?

We are committed to maintaining Engagement CS and have no timetable for discontinuing support for it. We will continue to support Engagement CS (which includes trial balance functionality) past the June 1, 2017 end of support date for CSA (which only affects Write-Up CS, Payroll CS and Trial Balance CS licenses).

However, if you license Engagement CS along with other products on the CSA platform and you are interested in keeping all of your client data on one platform, you should know that the Accounting CS platform also includes Workpapers CS. Contact your CS Sales Representative for more information about how Workpapers CS could be a viable transition path for you from Engagement CS. As always, we are committed to communicating to our customers well in advance of discontinuing support on any products (at least 12 months' notice).

How will I access Engagement CS after CSA is discontinued?

You will continue to access Engagement CS through the CSA icon. Even though Write-Up CS, Payroll CS, Payroll Compliance and Trial Balance CS will no longer be supported after June 1, 2017, you will still be able to use Engagement CS via the CSA platform.

Will Engagement CS still allow me to access trial balance functionality after Trial Balance CS is discontinued?

Yes. Trial Balance capabilities are only being removed for firms that license Write-Up CS or Trial Balance CS, not for those that license Engagement CS. You’ll note that, when adding a new client within Engagement CS, the trial balance and financial reporter options are automatically selected. By enabling Engagement CS for a new client, you automatically get the trial balance and financial reporter capabilities that are included with your Engagement CS license.

Will I still be able to export tax information to applications such as, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, and ProSeries?

Yes. You will still be able to export tax information to applications such as ProSystem fx, Lacerte, and ProSeries after March 1, 2017 when the Trial Balance CS license permanently expires.

Is Workpapers CS replacing Engagement CS?

Workpapers CS has been developed as our next generation desktop workpaper management application, and it is a viable transition path for most firms currently using Engagement CS. We built Workpapers CS with a tax workflow focus and in the last two years we have enhanced it with a comprehensive feature set for handling audit workflow, giving you the tools you need to complete your compilations, reviews and audits effectively. We encourage you to evaluate Workpapers CS to see what benefits it will provide you beyond those that you get from Engagement CS today. If you are looking to move to the web with your workpaper management product, your sales representative can also talk about those options with you.
