If you need to zero balances in the Chart of Accounts for any reason, you may use this dialog to zero amounts for any accounts, years, periods, and amount types. Note that you must be in Browse mode (rather than Add or Edit mode) to access any of the options or dialogs that are available from the Edit menu or the right-click context menu when the Chart of Accounts window is active.

For a Trial Balance CS client, prior to using the Zero Balances command you will need to delete all existing transactions for each period from the Adjusting Journal Entries window.

  1. Choose Setup > Chart of Accounts.
  2. Choose Edit > Zero Balances.
  3. In the Accounts group box, specify the single account or range of accounts to zero.
  4. In the Years group box, specify the year or years to zero.
  5. In the Periods group box, select either all periods or a selected single period.
  6. In the Amounts group box, mark the Balance or Budget checkbox option or both.
  7. Click OK.
