Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

Steps to complete to begin the conversion

  1. Close any client that is currently open.
  2. Choose Utilities > Data Conversion > Payroll CS.
  3. In the Location of WS2 system field, enter the drive and folder where your WS2 application files are currently installed, or click the Browse button to search for the correct folder.
  4. In the WS2 client to convert field, choose the WS2 client you want to convert by selecting it from the drop-down list.
  5. In the Target client group box, enter a unique ID for the new CSA client, and also specify the default payroll frequency.
  6. To have the conversion application create global pay items from the wages in Payroll CS and convert any monthly, quarterly, and annual earnings amounts for each employee, mark the Convert employee earnings checkbox.
  7. Click the Convert button.
  8. If converting employee earnings, complete the fields in the SDI/SUI Information dialog, and then click the Continue button.

Data will be converted as described in Payroll CS conversion issues.

Steps to complete after the conversion

  1. Open the Checkbook Setup dialog from the Setup menu and click the Check Layout Information tab. Select check layouts for all converted checkbooks and any signature and logo information, and then click the Done button.
  2. If you chose not to convert employee earnings, open the Employees window from the Setup menu and do the following for each employee:
    1. In the General tab, click the Edit button to modify information on the selected employee record.
    2. Click the Edit Depts button. In the Edit Employee Departments dialog, choose a template for each department in which the employee is active. The template automatically populates the employee record with the appropriate payroll items. Click OK to return to the Employees window.
    3. Choose Edit > Earnings History. In the Earnings History dialog, enter the employee's year-to-date earnings amounts in the column for the last month the employee worked. (For example, if the employee worked through August, enter the employee's entire year-to-date earnings amounts in the August column.) Click the Done button to return to the Employees window.
    4. Click the Enter button to save the changes for the selected employee.
  3. If you had linked employees, review the employees that were linked in WS2/Payroll CS and modify them for any information that was on links other than the first one.

Note: Payroll CS supports multiple state and locality processing without linking employees.
