Resolution

To rebuild the client list in CSA go to Help / Repair and click the Rebuild Client List button. This command rebuilds your client list for the Client data path currently specified in the File Locations tab of the Setup / User Preferences dialog. You should only use this feature if the client you want to open is not visible or all clients are not visible in the list pane of the File / Open Client dialog.

Important! Rebuilding the client list may take several hours if you have a large number of clients and it may wait for verification or not complete if it comes across a corrupt client or a file that should not be in your client data path. Check the recommended options below before performing a rebuild of the client list.

Take a look at the following before rebuilding:

  • Verify that you are looking at the correct data path and the missing client / clients show in that path. Go to the File Locations tab under Setup / User Preferences to find the Client data path. Browse to this path using Windows Explorer or My Computer to make sure that you can see the individual folders for your clients. The default client data path is X:\WinCSI\CSAData (where X is the drive that you have installed CSA to).
  • Compact your client list. Go to Help / Repair, click on the Miscellaneous tab, and click the Compact Client List button.
  • Restore your client list file from your nightly backup (Only if your system is setup to backup the client data path nightly). The client list file is CltList.wsw and is located in your client data path.

  • Try this option when you have a large number of clients, no drive backup to restore the client list file from, and only a few clients that are not visible in the Open Client dialog. Create a new data folder on your local hard drive. Go to Setup / User Preferences and change the Client data path in the File Locations tab to point to the new data folder. Copy the individual client data folders for only the missing clients from your original data folder into the new data folder. Go to Help / Repair and click Rebuild Client List on the Clients tab to rebuild the list for only these clients. Verify that the clients show under File / Open Client. At this point you can use File / Backup to backup the clients to a separate location on your hard drive. Switch your Client data path back to it's original location under Setup / User Preferences and then use File / Restore to restore the client backups to the original location.
