If you transmit an electronically filed return to Thomson Reuters and then discover a mistake or omission in the return, you can attempt to recall the return. If the recall is successful, you can correct the return, re-create the electronic file, and retransmit to Thomson Reuters.

Returns can be recalled only if they have not yet been transmitted by Thomson Reuters to the service center; therefore, it is important to consider the transmission of returns to Thomson Reuters as the final step in the filing process, similar to dropping a return in a mailbox.

Sending a recall request does not guarantee that the return will be recalled. You must wait for an acknowledgement to determine whether the recall was successful. Thomson Reuters cannot fulfill a recall request when the return has already been transmitted to the service center and is either awaiting an acknowledgement or was already accepted.

Note: Thomson Reuters does not follow a pre-determined schedule when transmitting returns to service centers. Transmissions are completed based on drain times and electronic filing volume.

To attempt to recall a return, follow these steps.

  1. Choose File > CS Connect.
  2. In the Purpose of this call group box in the CS Connect dialog, mark the Recall transmitted returns checkbox. If this checkbox is not active, there are no returns that qualify for a recall attempt.
  3. Click the Electronic Filing Recall tab and select the returns to attempt to recall, and then click the Call Now button.

Note: When the Recall transmitted returns checkbox is marked, the Retrieve acknowledgements checkbox is automatically marked so that you promptly receive the acknowledgement for the recall request when Thomson Reuters is able to process the request immediately. If you do not receive the acknowledgement during the call in which the recall request was sent, connect to CS Connect at a later time with the Retrieve acknowledgements checkbox marked.
