Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

For details, see CSA license expiration 2017 – frequently asked questions.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of these CSA modules.

The Ohio Payroll Tax module supports the following forms:

Choose Utilities > Payroll Tax Processing and then either click the OH state flag icon on the shortcut bar or choose View > Ohio. Click the appropriate tab to access the applicable form. (Ohio must be selected in the Payroll tab of the Client Properties dialog in order for the OH flag to appear on the shortcut bar.)

  • Payroll tax processing data is kept in separate files, so any changes made to the retrieved data will not carry back to your payroll data.
  • To have credit weeks display in Form JFS20127, be sure to enter the units in the Number of units field in the Tasks > Payroll Check Entry window. To avoid entering them each week, mark the Duplicate units checkbox in the Payroll Check Entry > Data Entry Options dialog.

Special information

For each state that you will be processing for a client, you must first enter the two-character state postal code in the Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties dialog.

To have the application calculate SUTA amounts and the SUTA Worksheet report, the state field must be completed for the applicable state(s) for each employee in the Other tab of the Setup > Employees window.

To have the application process the employee's withheld municipality tax as Residence Tax Withheld on the local tax forms, the Ohio residence checkbox must be marked in the General tab of the Local Withholding Item Properties dialog. From the Tax Withholdings and Deductions tab of the Employees window, click the Item Properties button for the local withholding item, click the General tab, and mark the Ohio residence checkbox. If this checkbox is not marked, the amounts will be processed as Workplace Tax Withheld on the local tax forms.

Note: If the employee has only one local withholding item, the tax withheld will be processed as Workplace Tax Withheld on the local forms whether or not the Ohio residence checkbox is marked.
