Important reminder!

Product support for Engagement CS is ending on September 30, 2020. See Engagement CS license expiration 2020 - frequently asked questions for more information.

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of Creative Solutions Accounting.

The Oregon Payroll Tax module supports the following forms as well as SUTA file creation:

Choose Utilities > Payroll Tax Processing and then either click the OR state flag icon on the shortcut bar or choose View > Oregon. Click the applicable form tab. (Oregon must be selected in the Payroll tab of the Client Properties dialog in order for the OR flag to appear on the shortcut bar.)

Oregon requires blank paper copies to align exactly to preprinted forms. Please ensure that your blank paper copies align to the preprinted form before sending them to the state. To adjust the form alignment for the preprinted or blank form, choose Setup > Layout Editor when the Oregon Payroll Tax Processing window is open and then choose the appropriate form to modify.

  • Payroll tax processing data is kept in separate files, so any changes made to the retrieved data will not carry back to your payroll data.
  • When state SUTA files are created, they are automatically encrypted for security and stored in the \CSASYS\MAGMEDIA\year \Q# folder (where # represents the filing quarter). Before submitting these files to the appropriate agency, you must use the Save to Submittable Format command, at which point the files are decrypted. Using the Restore from Submittable Format option encrypts the files once again. You can use the preview function to view the decrypted files.

Transit taxes

Transit taxes are retrieved based on the option selection in the Supplemental Information dialog:

Note: When either All employees taxable for Tri-Met Transit or All employees taxable for Lane Transit are chosen, any retirement plan contributions are considered taxable by Transit taxes. To verity that a deduction item is set up as a retirement contribution, choose Setup > System Configuration > Deduction items, and click the Calculations tab of the deduction item. If a retirement plan is chosen in the Retirement plan type field, then it is a retirement contribution.

The Oregon Payroll Tax module will calculate the employer's liability for Tri-Met and Lane transit taxes and include them in the total taxes to be paid (line 14). Note, however, that any information you enter for the form does not carry back to the main application, so these taxes must be manually posted to the GL.

Special information

For each state that you will be processing for a client, you must first enter the two-character state postal code in the Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties dialog.

To have the application calculate SUTA amounts and the SUTA Worksheet report, the state field must be completed for the applicable state(s) for each employee in the Other tab of the Setup > Employees window.
