Important reminder!

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of Creative Solutions Accounting.

The Washington Payroll Tax module supports the following forms:

Choose Utilities > Payroll Tax Processing and then either click the WA state flag icon on the shortcut bar or choose View > Washington. Click the applicable form tab. (Washington must be selected in the Payroll tab of the Client Properties dialog in order for the WA flag to appear on the shortcut bar.)

  • Payroll tax processing data is kept in separate files, so any changes made to the retrieved data will not carry back to your payroll data.
  • When state SUTA files are created, they are automatically encrypted for security and stored in the \CSASYS\MAGMEDIA\year \Q# folder (where # represents the filing quarter). Before submitting these files to the appropriate agency, you must use the Save to Submittable Format command, at which point the files are decrypted. Using the Restore from Submittable Format option encrypts the files once again. You can use the preview function to view the decrypted files.
  • If you are filing quarterly industrial insurance, use Washington form F212-055-000.
  • The SUTA ID you enter for Washington on the Payroll tab of the Client Properties dialog will flow to the ES Reference Number fields on the WA-5208A and WA-5208B forms. The ES reference number is a nine-digit number assigned to you by the Employment Security Department of the state of Washington.
  • CSA retrieves the corporate officers' quarterly earnings amount and the number of corporate officers exempt from coverage and inputs this information to form 5208A items 9 and 10. For this functionality to work correctly, the Officer checkbox must be marked in the Checkbox grid in the Personal/W-2 tab and WA must be entered as a SUTA state in the Other tab of the Setup > Employees window for all corporate officers. When the Officer checkbox is marked for Washington corporate officers, SUTA wages will be neither calculated nor included in payroll reports or the Form 940.

Special information

For each state that you will be processing for a client, you must first enter the two-character state postal code in the Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties dialog.

To have the application calculate SUTA amounts and the SUTA Worksheet report, the state field must be completed for the applicable state(s) for each employee - in the Other tab of the Setup > Employees window.
