The Earnings grid lists all pay items for the selected template. As you add additional pay items, new rows are added to the grid as needed.

Each field in this column is a drop-down list that includes the description of all pay items. Choose the pay items that are relevant to this employee's work in the selected department.

Opens another dialog where you may edit detail for the highlighted item as it specifically pertains to the selected employee template.

GL Account
Shows the general ledger account that is associated with the selected pay item.

Wage Type
The following options are available in the drop-down list for each field in this column: Hourly; Linked to Other; Salaried - Hours Sensitive; Salaried - Hours Insensitive (allows you to track hours without affecting pay for a salaried employee).

Shows the dollar amount associated with a specific pay item. If the pay item type is Hourly, enter the hourly rate. If the pay item type is Salaried (either hours sensitive or hours insensitive), enter the annual salary. (The fields in this column are not accessible for any pay item whose wage type for this template is Linked to Other.)

Choose the default frequency to use for the selected pay item by selecting from the following options: Daily; Weekly; Bi-Weekly; Twice Monthly; Monthly; Quarterly; Semi-annually; Annually; Non-periodic. (When adding a new template, this field defaults to the setting in the Default Frequency field on the Calculating Payroll tab of the Client Properties dialog.)

Link To
Accessible only if the wage type for the selected pay item is Linked to Other. The drop-down list for each field in this column includes all other pay items currently assigned to this template.


  • he rows of this grid can be re-ordered via drag and drop. In Add or Edit mode, click the number button at the left of a row and drag it to its desired new position.
  • To delete an item from this grid, click the number button at the far left of the grid to highlight the entire row and then press DELETE on your keyboard. Note that the application does not allow you to blank out an entry to undo it; instead, you would need to delete the entire row.
