Payroll CS can automatically calculate tip pay, commission pay, and EIC advance payments for payroll checks when an employee is set up with the appropriate pay items. Each pay item works independently, or in conjunction with other pay items and options, to cause the application to perform the desired calculations. A number of special pay item types are already defined in the Setup > System Configuration > Pay Items dialog.

Any employee can be set up for more than one type of special pay calculation. The possible combinations of pay item setups are limited only by the specific needs of the employee.

To set up global pay items, choose Setup > System Configuration > Pay Items.

To set up default pay items for groups of employees with similar setup requirements, choose Setup > Employee Templates and then click the Earnings tab.

To customize pay item properties for each employee, choose Setup > Employees and then click the Earnings tab.
