Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017. CSA will not include 2017 tax rates or payroll forms, so, for 2017 and beyond, you will need to process payroll in another application. We recommend Accounting CS Payroll and myPay Solutions. For more information, see the following topics.

If you are making a federal tax payment for any reason other than for a tax deposit (such as the payment of a penalty amount due) you should use a discretionary tax payment. For more information, see the Setting up a vendor for discretionary tax payments topic.

If it is appropriate for your client, use the following procedure to set up a vendor for direct deposit tax payments.

  1. From the CSA main window, choose Setup > Vendors.
  2. In the Vendors window, select the appropriate vendor and then click the Direct Deposit tab.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Mark the Process electronic payment checkbox.
  5. Enter the appropriate bank and account information.
  6. Only for clients transmitting via InterceptEFT: Mark the Commercial Account checkbox only if you want to create a CCD - Cash Concentration or Disbursement (corporate transaction) ACH type file rather than a PPD - Prearranged Payment and Deposit Entry (consumer transaction or regular vendor payment) ACH type file.

Note: The Commercial Account checkbox must be marked to activate the Impound type field.

Disclaimer: InterceptEFT is an unaffiliated third party that some of our customers have engaged to provide direct deposit, tax payments, ACH processing, or credit card merchant services.

  7. Only for clients transmitting via InterceptEFT: To create impound transaction ACH files, select an impound type from the Impound type drop-down list.
  8. For all clients: If you are paying a federal tax, choose the Federal option and select the appropriate tax type from the Tax Type drop-down list.

Note: Certain federal tax types are broken down into sub-categories and their distributions are handled in different ways. For more information, see the distribution information for federal forms 941/944, CT-1, and 720.

  9. If you are paying a state or local tax, choose the State or Local option, and enter the appropriate tax type in the Tax type field.
  10. For state or local taxes, if you wish to break down your payment into subcategories, select the appropriate distribution types for Lines 1 through 3 in the Distribution amount types group box. These distribution types will be associated with the amounts reflected in the Distributions dialog of your vendor checks.
  11. Click the Enter button to save the information.
  12. Click the /_images/acct_pr/csa/close.gif button to close the Vendors window.

Note: We recommend that you prenote the vendor account prior to producing live direct deposit vendor files. When prenoting the account, the Process electronic payment checkbox must be unmarked. Mark this checkbox again once the account is approved by the bank and you are ready to produce live direct deposit files.
