In the General tab of the Employees window:

  • Fill in the employee's unique ID number, name, mailing address, telephone number, Social Security number or employee identification number.
  • Choose the employee's (primary) active department, as well as a single home department.
  • From the dialog that appears when you click the Edit depts button, choose the most appropriate employee template (optional) to use for this employee. Much of the remaining information required for the new employee can be pulled from the template automatically.
  • Enter any comments in the text box.
