When preparing setup information for the client in Accountant's Assistant, the Bookkeeping Activity Monitor enables you to instruct the client's CBS application to automatically generate report information to the accountant whenever certain trigger activities occur within the client application. As the accountant, you can define which CBS bookkeeping events should be reported to you. The activity report can be sent back to the accountant via email attachment and via the retrieval of client export information into Accountant's Assistant.

From the Accountant's Assistant main window, choose Setup > Bookkeeping Activity Monitor.

Please note that several factors could prevent the client's CBS application from sending you email alerts when the client performs any of the trigger activities while working in CBS - for example, the client could be using CBS on a computer without email access or without an active internet connection or could be relying on a firewall configured to prevent outgoing email. In such circumstances, you would receive the alerts only when retrieving the client's export data (assuming you have marked the Export Activity Report checkbox as a reporting default).


First, specify the events to be reported using the Bookkeeping Activity grid of this dialog. Then choose Tasks > Generate and select Security for inclusion in the transfer files for your client to import into CBS.

The events table is stored in a file within the larger (zip) file transmitted to the client for import into CBS. If a new events table file is subsequently transmitted to the client and imported into CBS, it will simply overwrite the existing file.

The CBS events log (in XML format) can be included along with the client's export data and retrieved into Accountant's Assistant, or it can transmitted via email attachment.

To print or view this information from Accountant's Assistant, choose File > Print Reports and then double-click Activity Report. (If no events were recorded in CBS, the application would display the message "There is no data to view.")
