The Custom Header Layout dialog enables you to define or modify the presentation of a selected custom header. You can add or modify the text or variables for each of three columns (A, B, and C) and add or remove rows of content. Your changes are immediately reflected in the Preview pane at the bottom of the dialog.
The Custom Header Layout dialog can be opened in either of two ways:
To create a new custom header
From the CSA main window, choose Setup > System Configuration > Custom Headers and click the Add button. Enter the header description and (optionally) the header template you want to use and then click the Continue button.
To modify an existing custom header
From the CSA main window, choose Setup > System Configuration > Custom Headers, click an existing header in the Custom Headers dialog to highlight it, and then click the Layout button.
Tip: To modify the width of any item in a custom header, highlight the column name in the Custom Header Layout dialog and then click the Properties button.
Special information
You may select a custom header to print on any standard CSA report or custom payroll report from the Page Layout tab of the report's Options dialog.
Fields & buttons
Displays the name of the selected custom header.
This pane displays the variables that are available for inclusion in any column of the custom header. Highlight a variable and then click the Column A, Column B, or Column C button to place it in the appropriate position within the header layout. The following variables are available for selection:
- Report Name. As it currently appears on the report.
- Client ID. As defined on the File > Client Properties dialog.
- Client Name. As defined on the File > Client Properties dialog.
- Payroll Name. As defined on the File > Client Properties dialog.
- DBA Name. As defined on the File > Client Properties dialog.
- Checkbook. Bank name for the checkbook currently selected in the Report Options dialog. (NA for Trial Balance CS reports.)
- Bank Account #. As recorded in the Setup > Checkbook dialog; for the Bank Reconciliation Worksheet and the Bank Reconciliation Transmittal Report only.
- Data Range. As selected in the Report Options dialog. (NA for Trial Balance CS reports.)
- Period Begin Date. As recorded for payroll checks within the selected range, for check-based payroll reports only.
- Period End Date. As recorded for payroll checks within the selected range, for check-based payroll reports only.
- Report End Date. As selected in the Report Options dialog. (NA for payroll reports.)
- Basis. As selected in the Report Options dialog, for Trial Balance CS reports only.
- Grouping Type. As selected in the Report Options dialog, for Trial Balance CS reports only.
- Threshold. As selected in the Report Options dialog, for the Trial Balance Variance Report only.
- Page Number.
- Date Printed. Included in the custom header only if the relevant option is also selected in the Setup > User Preferences dialog.
- Time Printed. Included in the custom header only if the relevant option is also selected in the Setup > User Preferences dialog.
Removes the highlighted item from the Rows/Columns in Layout pane.
This pane displays the name, character length, column position (A, B, or C), and row position of the variables and text currently selected for this custom header.
- To add a variable, highlight in Data selection pane (at left) and then click the appropriate column button.
- To remove text or a variable, highlight it and then click the Remove button.
- To change the order of text or variables, highlight the item and then click the Move Up or Move Down button to move it to the desired position.
- To modify the font or other properties (including date and time formats) for the selected item, click the Properties button.
Moves the highlighted item up one position in the custom header.
Moves the highlighted item down one position in the custom header.
Opens the Properties dialog, where you can specify the width and font size and formatting for the highlighted item.
You can also change the column selection for the current item and also specify the formatting for a date or time variable.
Adds the static text that you specify to the selected custom header.
Adds a new row to the custom header.
A new row is added to the bottom of the list in the Rows/Columns in layout pane.
Shows how the selected header will look. Any changes you make to the header layout are immediately reflected in the preview pane.
Note: When the width of the header layout exceeds what fits in portrait format, the page orientation automatically switches to landscape format, or from landscape to export format.
Shows the current page orientation of the selected report, which automatically shifts from portrait to landscape to export as necessary when you add items to a column or increase the font size(s) used in the header.
