Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

For details, see CSA license expiration 2017 – frequently asked questions.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of these CSA modules.

The staff in charge of the engagement has the ability to assign workpapers to staff members directly on the Workpaper Assignments tab of the Engagement Properties dialog. The staff IDs listed in the upper pane have been selected on the Staff Assignment tab. In the lower pane of the Workpaper Assignments tab the program displays workpapers and documents in a Tree View format with checkboxes to the left of each folder and document in the tree. You can assign workpapers and an associated status for each item to the appropriate staff member on the engagement team.

Choose File > Engagement Properties to open the Engagement properties dialog, and then click the Workpaper Assignments tab.

A staff member accessing the Local Client Data (LCD) can update only signoff information. Those Staff Member(s) who are working in the field can only view tabs in the Engagement Properties dialog. (Depending on the privileges that are assigned to the staff member(s), some tabs may not be available even for viewing.)

  • The information that appears on this tab was entered in the New Engagement wizard during the setup of the engagement.
  • All folders and workpapers in the engagement will be marked as Read only by default when you open this page for the first time.
  • If a workpaper is assigned to a staff member or is checked out, the workpaper or folder is marked as Read only or Not Assigned for all other staff members.
  • Selecting the type of assignment for the engagement or a folder applies the same assignment to all folders and workpapers within the selected engagement or folder.
  • The information on this tab is automatically updated when the workpaper assignment is changed at the workpaper level.
  • Workpapers that are not assigned to a specific staff member are displayed, but cannot be selected or viewed in the Tree View window of their assigned engagement.
