Use the Scan tab of the New Document dialog to insert a scanned image directly into an engagement as a Word document or PDF, without having to scan the image and save it on the local or network drive before inserting it into the engagement.

Choose File > New > Document and click the Scan tab to set up scanning options.

  • Click the Scanner button to open the Select Source dialog and select the scanner to use.
  • Click the desired option (to scan a single page, to scan multiple pages into one file, or to scan multiple pages into separate files) and then click the Continue button to open the scanner software dialog.

Note: For specifics about the operation of your scanner, please refer to the user manual.

  • Once you have scanned the image, you can assign a document name and workpaper reference in the Document Properties dialog.
  • You can scan multiple pages either individually or by using an automatic feed device when you click the Scan multiple pages into a single file option or the Scan multiple pages into separate files option. For details, see Scanning images and inserting them in Engagement CS.
  • All scanned images are inserted into a Word document or PDF, which is then inserted into the engagement. The scanned images appear in the tree view with a Word document icon.
