The Massachusetts Supplemental Information dialog allows you to enter additional information unique to the form processing requirements for Massachusetts.

Choose Utilities " Payroll Tax Processing and then either click the MA state flag icon on the shortcut bar or choose View " Massachusetts. Choose Setup " Supplemental Information when the Massachusetts payroll tax processing window is active.

Fields & buttons

  • Plant code

Enter the appropriate information in the following fields.

  • Calculate penalty/interest (checkbox). Mark this checkbox if you want the program to automatically calculate penalty and interest amounts. If you select this box, the Penalty and Interest fields will be disabled.
  • Interest rate (%). Enter the applicable (current) interest rate. See your instructions for more information.
  • Filing status. Select the applicable filing status from the drop-down list to populate the appropriate form based on both the selected filing status and the selected retrieval method.

    Example: If your filing status is monthly (M-942 form), select Monthly from the drop-down list and also select the month you are processing from the Month drop-down list in the Retrieve Payroll Data dialog.

  • Latest check date (checkbox). Mark this checkbox to instruct the program to use the latest check date instead of a manually entered payment date range.
  • From/To. These fields are only available if the filing status is Weekly.
  • Filing entity
  • Final return (checkbox)
  • EFT payment (checkbox)

Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:

  • Include payment info.: (checkbox). If you want to include payment information in the file, mark this checkbox to activate the other fields in this group box.
  • Checkbook Select the checkbook from which the payment will be made.
  • Savings account If the selected checkbook is a savings account, mark this checkbox. If you do not mark this checkbox, the program will assume it is a checking account.

When you select a checkbook from the drop-down list, the program checks that your bank name, number, and routing number are entered using a valid format. If any of the items are invalid, your payment information will not be included in the file and your file may be rejected.

  • Bank name - there must be a bank name listed in the Checkbook Setup dialog.
  • Bank account numbers - must have a maximum of 17 characters and use any combination of letters, digits, spaces, or hyphens with no leading spaces.
  • Routing numbers - must have exactly 9 digits, the first two of which must be either 01-12 or 21-32.

The validation process ensures only that the formats are correct and does not verify the legitimacy of the account name and numbers.

Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:

  • Contact person
  • Contact phone
  • Title
  • Date Enter the date the form(s) were prepared and signed. If you choose to have the program automatically calculate penalty and interest amounts, this date is used for the calculations.
  • Suppress date on forms (checkbox). Marking this checkbox omits the signature date from all forms.
