The SUTA Rate Details dialog allows you to enter the current and previous SUTA rate percentages and gives you the option to copy the current rate to the previous.
Open this dialog from the Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties dialog by clicking the Item Properties button for a state.
Special information
The wage limit for each state is set globally in the SUI and SDI tab of the State Tax Information dialog. To open this dialog, choose Setup > System Configuration > Payroll Tax Information > State.
Fields & buttons
Mark this checkbox if you want the program to ignore the global SUTA wage limit for the currently selected client.
Current tab
Enter the effective date for the current state-specific 940 rate and SUTA rates.
Note: The effective date must be the beginning of a quarter (1/1, 4/1, 7/1, or 10/1) so that earnings-based reports and payroll forms will match check values.
To copy the SUTA and 940 rates from the Current tab to the Previous tab, click the Copy current to previous button.
Enter the current state-specific 940 experience rate if it is different than the Base SUTA rate. This rate is assigned to you by the states in which you paid wages.
Enter the current state-specific SUTA rate(s) in this grid.
This displays the current SUTA rate total from the detail grid.
Previous tab
Enter the state-specific 940 rate used prior to the effective date on the Current tab. If you leave this field blank, the program will use the previous base rate.
Enter the previous state-specific SUTA rate(s) in this grid.
This displays the previous SUTA rate total from the detail grid.
