You may use this dialog to enable data sharing between eligible clients with matching TINs in CSA.

Click the Data Sharing tab on the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.

The ability to share general client and employee data is available between Creative Solutions Accounting, UltraTax CS, Fixed Assets CS, Practice CS, and Creative Solutions Practice. Data sharing also works within CSA to automatically fill in new employee or client data from another employee or client with a matching SSN/EIN.

Reinstating data sharing after it has been disabled or activating it for the first time will initiate a complete rebuild of the client sharing files. This could take several minutes, depending on the number of clients and TINs that are being shared. If you are running the program on the network, we recommend that you have others close the program before activating Data Sharing, since the rebuild program skips all clients that are in use.


  • To turn data sharing off at the client level, choose File > Client Properties, click the Advanced Properties button, and on the Restrict Access tab mark the Deny Data Sharing access to client data checkbox.
  • For data sharing to work properly, each user must set up the correct data paths on the File Locations tab of the Setup > Users Preferences dialog.
