To change the font type, size, style, color, and font effects for text in reports within the Report Designer, use one of the methods described below.

To open a report or financial statement layout for editing, choose File > Report Designer. In the Reports list frame, click the plus (+) sign next to the document type folder to expand the list, and then double-click a report or financial statement layout to open it in the design grid.

Recommended: Prior to making changes to a report (including letters and financial statements) in the Report Designer, choose File > Save As to save the report with a different name. (To restore a predefined report in which changes have been made, you can choose File > Restore Default.)

Editing methods

From the right-click context menu

Right-click in a cell, region, or row and choose Format Cells from the command menu.

From the Command menu

Select a cell, row, or column in the Design grid and choose Format > Cells.

From the Text section of the Design Tools frame

  1. Select a cell, region, or row and click the Text section in the Design Tools frame.
  2. Click the More text options link to open the Format Cells dialog.

Note: In addition to providing the ability to modify font type, size, style, and color, the Format Cells dialog allows you to change the case of selected text—such as variable text—to all uppercase, all lowercase, or first letter caps.

From the Formatting toolbar

Use the Formatting toolbar to modify a selected cell, row, or column in the design grid.

Save the report changes by choosing File > Save As.
