Use the following checklist to configure workstations and utility servers prior to using AdvanceFlow. You can resolve many common issues by verifying the settings in this checklist.

You must complete the GoFileRoom IT checklist prior to completing the following checklist.

Workstation related

Application Condition Action Required
Internet Explorer Internet Explorer Settings required for AdvanceFlow

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options and configure as follows:

Security tab

  1. Click the Trusted Sites icon.
  2. Click the Sites button.
  3. Clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
  4. In the Add this web site to the zone field, enter the following domain.
    https//*.AdvanceFlow.com.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. (Checkpoint Engage customers only) In the Add this web site to the zone field, add the following domain, https://*.onvio.us and then click Add.
  7. Mark the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
  8. Click the Close button.
  9. Click the Custom Level button.
  10. Select Low from the Reset to drop-down list and click the Reset button.
  11. Scroll to the Display mixed content setting in the Miscellaneous section and click the Enable option.
  12. If prompted to verify your changes, click Yes.
  13. Click OK.

Advanced tab

Browsing

Clear the Re-use windows for launching shortcuts (when tabbed browsing is off) checkbox.

Web pages are not updating correctly or displaying inaccurate content.

Delete your temporary internet files by doing the following.

  1. In Internet Explorer, choose
    Tools > Internet Options > General tab.
  2. In the Browsing history section, mark the Delete browsing history on exit checkbox
  3. Click the Settings button.
  4. Click the Every time I visit the webpage option and click OK.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Verify that the Temporary Internet Files and website files checkbox is marked.
  7. Click the Delete button.
  8. After the delete process is finished, click OK.
Internet Explorer pages are not displaying the on-page language correctly. In Internet Explorer, choose View > Encoding > Western European (Windows).
Objects on toolbars, menus, tabs, and/or dialog windows are larger or smaller than default, cut-off or missing.
  • In Windows 7, open the Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display and adjust the magnification setting to 100% (default).
  • In Internet Explorer, choose View > Zoom and verify that the setting is 100%.
The AdvanceFlow website does not open in Internet Explorer

Set Internet Explorer to be the default web browser.

In Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options > Programs and select "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser."

Internet Explorer blocks pop-up windows on the AdvanceFlow website
  1. Uninstall all Internet Explorer toolbars.
  2. Configure Internet Explorer to allow pop-up windows when using AdvanceFlow.
  3. In Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Pop-up Blocker > Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  4. In the "Address of Web site to allow" box, add *.AdvanceFlow.com.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Click the Close button.
  7. If the user gets a "Trusted Site" message window when next launching Internet Explorer and connecting to AdvanceFlow, click OK and continue.
Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office Office documents do not open in Internet Explorer when a user views a document in AdvanceFlow's View Mode.

Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Add-Ins

The Office Client Add-In must be installed on each workstation to allow integration with Microsoft Office applications.

Issues with Microsoft Office Add-Ins  Verify that the Add-Ins are not disabled and that they appear in the application’s Options screen.

Adobe Acrobat

Adobe files are not opening correctly.

Workstations accessing pdf documents in AdvanceFlow should have only one product and version of Adobe Acrobat installed. See supported versions.

If there are multiple versions of Adobe installed, uninstall all but the most current version. If both Reader and Acrobat are installed, uninstall Reader.

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features.

Note: After you uninstall Reader without uninstalling Acrobat, you should perform a "Detect and Repair" to restore file associations for Acrobat.

PDF documents open in an Acrobat or Reader instead of a Internet Explorer page when a user views a document in GoFileRoom's View Mode.

Enable Acrobat's "Display PDF in browser" feature

In Acrobat, choose Edit>Preferences, click the Internet category and mark the Display PDF in browser checkbox.

Third-party components AdvanceFlow requires that various third-party components be installed on each workstation. Your administrator can access these components from the Administration area in AdvanceFlow. If these components are not already installed, you will prompted to install them when you first access AdvanceFlow.

Install the following components.

  • Silverlight Trusted Mode 2.0 (required for integration with PPC’s SMART Practice Aids)
  • Silverlight 5.1.10411.0 (x86)
  • Silverlight 5.1.10411.0 (x64)

Utilities/permissions/server related

Condition Action Required
Your administrator requires a range of IP addresses when setting up AdvanceFlow in order to apply your firm's proxy rules.

Use the following IP Addresses to allow your users to connect to AdvanceFlow.

  • Advanceflow.com: 167.68.20.216 ports 80 and 443
  • Webservices.advanceflow.com: 167.68.20.234 ports 80 and 443
  • 10.214.163.0 to 10.214.163.255
In addition, if your firm is using GoFileRoom's ClientFlow features, you must set the IP addresses within the following IP ranges to "Allow."
  • 10.214.19.1 to 10.214.19.1
  • 10.214.19.5 to 10.214.19.7
Users are having various issues related to PPC and SMART docs. Provide users with full control permissions for the C:\ProgramData\AdvanceFlow folder.

Internal notes


The "Send to Bluetooth" addin is known to conflict with the AdvanceFlow addins. It's a good idea to disable the Send to Bluetooth addin before it starts causing trouble later on.
