CS Professional Suite applications integrate with supported versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

If Adobe Acrobat DC is installed, Adobe Reader DC must also be installed and made the default application in Windows for opening/reading PDFs. No other versions of Adobe Reader can be installed. If you do not follow this configuration, you may experience undesired application behavior.

Note: CS Professional Suite applications do not support other third-party PDF applications such as Nitro PDF, Foxit PDF, and Nuance PDF; even though they may work with CS Professional Suite applications.

PDF print drivers

CS Professional Suite applications do not support third-party PDF print drivers such as Adobe PDF Printer and CutePDF, even though they may work with CS Professional Suite applications.

Viewing embedded PDFs in FileCabinet CS

You must have Adobe Reader installed to view embedded PDFs in FileCabinet CS. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed, you must have the matching version of Adobe Reader installed and Reader must be set as the default program for viewing PDF files.

Considerations for Integration

This section outlines considerations for integrating Adobe PDF applications with the CS Professional Suite.

  • PDF files generated from third-party applications or third-party PDF printer drivers may contain elements that cause irregular behavior or error messages when you embed the PDF files into CS Professional Suite applications. If you encounter any issues, you may need to use alternate methods, such as generating the PDF from within a different application, printing the PDF to paper and then scanning it, and so on.
  • The presence of third-party Microsoft Office add-ins or Internet Explorer add-ins may conflict with a CS Professional Suite application's ability to handle an embedded PDF. OLE errors when working with embedded objects may be indication of this. As a result, environmental troubleshooting may be necessary to identify and disable/uninstall any conflicting add-ins. Consult your qualified IT professional for assistance.

For integration between CS Professional Suite applications and Adobe PDF applications to function properly, you may need to run both applications as an administrator. Running both applications at the administrator privilege level allows the CS Professional Suite and Adobe application to communicate properly. Running CS Professional Suite applications as an administrator may also identify potential permissions issues in your environment.
