Use of the log files discussed here are a great diagnostic tool for resolving problems with the FileCabinet CS print driver, specifically with the print service. The CSIFCSVC.LOGCSI and CSIPRINT.LOG work in tandem with each other; therefore, both log files should be gathered.

Use of these logs should only be performed at the request of support.

General troubleshooting steps for issues related to using the FileCabinet print driver are available here, Troubleshooting printing to FileCabinet CS from non-CS Suite applications.

CSIFCSVC.LOGCSI

To create the csifcsvc.logcsi log file, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to C:\Windows.
  2. Choose File > New > Text Document and name the document csifcsvc.logcsi.

Note: If a message is generated asking if you are sure you want to change the extension, the file was not properly renamed. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View and confirm Hide known file extensions is not marked.

  1. Right-click csifcsvc.logcsi and choose Properties.
  2. On the Security tab, make sure that the EVERYONE group is listed and has FULL CONTROL. If EVERYONE is not listed. click Add . Type the name EVERYONE and choose OK.

CSIPRINT.LOG

To create the log files, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the root of the c:\ drive.
  2. Choose File > New > Text Document, and name the document csi_driver_debug. (NO EXTENSION)

Note: If you do not get a message asking if you are sure you want to change the extension, the file was not properly renamed. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View and confirm Hide known file extensions is not marked.

  1. Create driver-csiprint.log on the root drive (same process as step #2).
  2. Right-click driver-csiprint.log and choose Properties.
  3. On the Security tab, make sure that the EVERYONE group is listed and has FULL CONTROL. If EVERYONE is not listed, click ADD. Type the name EVERYONE and click CHECK NAMES and then hit OK to add the group.

Running the logs

To fill in the log file, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows button on the screen or press it on the keyboard.
  2. Type Command Prompt regardless of where the cursor is.
  3. Right-click the Command Prompt option in the search results and run as Administrator.
  4. Type Net Stop Spooler and press Enter. Then type Net Start Spooler and press Enter. This process ensures that the FileCabinet CS Print Service uses the complete logging for the csifcsc.logcsi file.
  5. Open FileCabinet CS to activate the files.
  6. Print using the FileCabinet CS printer driver.
  7. Send the support representative that requested the log files the driver-csiprint.log file (no need to send csi_driver_debug).

Once the logs have captured the issue, either rename or move the log files created above. Failure to do so will have a direct impact on program performance, detracting from the overall user experience.
