Annotating documents with image files

To add image files to documents as annotations, follow these steps.

  1. Open the document to which you will add the annotation.
  2. Choose Edit > Annotations > Image From File.

You can also right-click the document in the Watch window and choose Image From File from the context menu, click the Image toolbar button in the Annotation toolbar. If the Annotation toolbar is not visible, right-click in the Watch window and choose Annotation Toolbar from the context menu.

  3. In the Watch window, click where you want the image annotation to appear.
  4. In the Select Image dialog, navigate to the desired image file and select it.

Note: If you're running Digita FileCabinet in the Digita Virtual Office environment, you can navigate to files on your local network.

  5. Click OK.

Note: When you add an annotation, its position is determined by the method you use to place it.

Tips

  • Move an image annotation by clicking and dragging it to a new location.
  • Click and drag the handles around the perimeter of an annotation to resize it.
  • After you add an image annotation to a multiple-page document, you can apply the annotation to all pages by right-clicking the annotation and choosing Apply to all pages from the context menu. Any changes to the annotation will be reflected on all pages, except changes made to the size or position of the annotation. You can right-click the current page and choose Apply to all pages from the context menu again to remove the annotation from all other pages.
