Characters left:

  1. From the File menu, choose Backup.
  2. Select Drawers from the field in the upper-left corner of the Backup dialog.
  3. Highlight the drawer you want to back up.
  4. Click the Select button to move the selected drawer to the Drawers to back up pane on the right.
  5. Verify that the Backup location field shows the location to which you will back up the drawer data. (To change this location, click the Modify Backup Location button, navigate to the appropriate location, and click OK.)

Note: If you're running Digita FileCabinet in the Digita Virtual Office environment, you can navigate to files on your local network.

  6. Click the Backup button.

  • When you open the Backup dialog, Digita FileCabinet places the selected drawer in the Drawers to back up pane. Click the Remove button to move this drawer back to the Drawers available to back up pane.
  • Digita FileCabinet does not back up archived documents during this procedure.
  • If the drawer you want to back up is not listed, it may not have changed since its last backup. To include the drawer in the list, clear the Exclude drawers unchanged since their last backup checkbox.
  • Mark the status checkboxes to list only the drawers with the selected statuses.
  • Mark the "Check out" selected drawers checkbox to check out the selected client's data. By checking out a client's data, you can avoid problems that result from multiple users simultaneously accessing the same client's data. Any other user who attempts to open the client drawer while you have the data checked out will see a dialog stating that the drawer is currently checked out. If that user chooses to open the client drawer anyway, Digita FileCabinet will clear this checkbox.

Internal notes

You don't need to use a password to back up or restore a drawer that is password protected. The password is required only for accessing the contents of the drawer.
