Printing documents to DT FileCabinet from non- DT Professional Suite applications

Note: The process for storing documents from other DT Professional Suite applications is slightly different.

  1. From within the application in which the document was created, open the document you want to print to DT FileCabinet.
  2. The following steps vary depending on the application from which you are printing documents. Click the link for the appropriate source below.
    1. From within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook, click the Print button in the Microsoft Office DT FileCabinet toolbar.
The DT FileCabinet installation process adds DT FileCabinet toolbars to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The buttons in these toolbars allow you to quickly print or embed documents to DT FileCabinet.
    2. In the DT FileCabinet Driver Documents dialog, select the desired DT FileCabinet data location from the DT FileCabinet field. This is a read-only field if your organization currently has only one data location.
    3. Indicate the ID of the drawer in which the document should be stored, enter the name of the document as you want it to appear in DT FileCabinet, and choose the document folder in which you want to store the document. To select multiple drawers for the document you are storing, choose <<Select multiple drawers>> from the Drawer ID field, select the destination drawers in the Select Multiple Drawers dialog that opens, and click OK.
    4. Optional: Enter search keywords or a document description in the Document description / keywords for searching field.
    5. Click the To Cabinet button (or Print & FCS button if you also marked the Printer button) to store the document in DT FileCabinet.

    Notes

    • You can also store documents from Microsoft Office applications via the print command in those applications, as with other applications.
    • To print a copy of an email to DT FileCabinet once it has been sent from Outlook, click File > Options > Add-Ins, click the Add-In Options button, and mark the Print copy to DT FileCabinet when email is sent checkbox.
    • To print Outlook email attachments to DT FileCabinet, click File > Options > Add-Ins, click the Add-In Options button, and mark the Print attachments to DT FileCabinet when email is printed checkbox.
    1. Choose File > Print (or click Printer icon in the toolbar) to open the Print dialog.
    2. Select DT FileCabinet as the print destination. Some Windows-based applications provide a drop-down list from which you can select the printer; others provide a Printer button that can be clicked to change the print destination.
    3. Click OK (or click the Print button, depending on the application).
    4. In the DT FileCabinet Driver Documents dialog, select the desired DT FileCabinet data location from the DT FileCabinet field. This is a read-only field if your organization currently has only one data location.
    5. Indicate the ID of the drawer in which the document should be stored, enter the name of the document as you want it to appear in DT FileCabinet, and choose the document folder in which you want to store the document. 6. Optional: Enter search keywords or a document description in the Document description / keywords for searching field.
    7. Click the To Cabinet button (or Print & FCS button if you also marked the Printer button) to store the document in DT FileCabinet.
