System Configuration / Document Folders tab

Use this tab to add, edit, or delete document folders. You can choose to store documents in custom document folders that you can manage through this dialog. Folders that you manage in the Document Folders tab can be used in all drawers.

To open this tab, choose Setup > System Configuration and click the Document Folders tab.

Note: This tab is not available if your security configuration is set to restrict access to the System Configuration dialog and you did not enter the master password in the Security tab.

Fields & buttons

Displays a list of document folders to which you can save documents. To add folders, click the Add button, enter the folder name in the field immediately below this button, and click the Enter button.

Click this button to create a new document folder for document storage. Enter the name of the folder you are creating in the field immediately below this button and click the Enter button, or click Cancel to discard changes.

To change the name of an existing document folder, highlight the folder in the Folders list, click this button, enter the new name in the field immediately below this button, and click the Enter button.

Click this button to delete the selected folder name.

Note: Any documents stored within a deleted folder will be moved to the "Not yet filed" folder.

Click this button to save a new document folder name (or changes to an existing folder name).

Displays the name of the selected document folder. When adding a folder, enter a new folder name here. Also use this field to edit the name of an existing folder.

To edit the name of a document folder, highlight the folder in the list, click the Edit button, change the name in this field, and click the Enter button.

Displays the range of years for which DT FileCabinet will automatically generate folders. Enter a minimum year in the Minimum year field or use the DT FileCabinet default of "1999." The Maximum year field is a read-only field calculated as two years past the current year.

Note: DT FileCabinet cannot generate folders for years prior to 1999.

Select the data location for which you want to add or edit document folders.

Note: Changing the data location here also changes your current data location in the Folders window.
