The Data Exists dialog opens when you merge asset data between two years. This can be helpful if a client is closed forward, assets are entered, and then a change is needed in the previous year. Once you move the client back to the appropriate processing period and make the necessary change, you will see the following message when you choose File > Select Period to Process and close to the next year.
When you click the Overwrite button, you will lose any changes you made in the current year and bring forward the change from the previous year. Click the Merge button to keep depreciation changes and assets added and disposed of in both current and previous periods.
