Use the Import Spreadsheet dialog to import asset data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
To view important information about importing asset data from an Excel spreadsheet into Fixed Assets CS, see Importing asset data from an Excel spreadsheet. This topic provides detailed information about the import process.
In the Asset List window for the appropriate client, choose Utilities > Import Asset Data > Excel spreadsheet to open this dialog.
Fields & buttons
Microsoft Excel Document group box
Click the Browse button and then navigate to and select the spreadsheet that contains this client's asset data. Once you select the file, the path to and name of the file appear in the File field.
The name of each worksheet (tab) in the specified spreadsheet appears in the drop-down list for this field. Choose the worksheet from which you will import asset data from the drop-down list.
Enter the number of the row that contains the column headers for the worksheet. If the worksheet does not contain a header row, leave 0 in this field.
Fixed Assets CS automatically enters the number of the row after the header row in this read-only field.
Field mapping group box
Mapping columns establishes a link between the spreadsheet columns and the Fixed Assets CS data; this link causes the data to transfer from the spreadsheet to the appropriate field within Fixed Assets CS.
Click the Create a new field mapping option to create a new column mapping for the data you are importing into the client. If this is the first time you are importing data for a Fixed Assets CS client, Fixed Assets CS chooses this option for you and you must set up the mapping.
If you already set up the mapping for the import, click the Use a previously defined mapping option and choose the name of the previously defined mapping from the drop-down list.
To delete a previously defined field mapping, click the Use a previously defined mapping option, choose the mapping from the drop-down list, and click the Delete button.
