When you enter MACRS assets in Fixed Assets CS, the cursor in the Depreciation tab advances from the Life field of the Tax column to the Sec 179 Expense field of the Tax column. For some MACRS assets, you will need to enter information in the ADS Life field of the AMT column, which is skipped by default.

To have the cursor move to this field for all MACRS assets before proceeding to the Sec 179 Expense field, perform the following steps.

1. Choose Setup > User Preferences when the Asset List window is open. (Note that you must exit the Asset Detail dialog to set user preferences.)
2. In the Miscellaneous tab, mark the Visit ADS Life field for MACRS assets checkbox.
3. Click OK.
