Specifying client data and integrated application file locations

To change the location of current-year client data, you need to tell Fixed Assets CS and other integrated CS Professional Suite applications where the relevant files are located.

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences.
  2. In the User Preferences dialog, click the File Locations tab.
  3. Click the Fixed Assets CS option. The location of your Fixed Assets CS files is listed here.
  4. If the location of the data files is not correct, highlight the appropriate item in the list, and click the Modify button.
  5. In the Choose Data Location dialog, make the appropriate selection in the Data Locations field and then click OK.

    Notes

    • All locations entered in the Setup > System Configuration > Data Locations tab are included in the drop-down list for the Data Locations field. See Adding Fixed Assets CS data locations for additional information.
    • If you use UltraTax CS, open UltraTax CS and access the Setup > User Preferences > File Locations tab to designate the new location of the asset data files.
  6. If you use Accounting CS or Creative Solutions Accounting (Write-Up CS or Trial Balance CS) and want to make journal entries or journal entry transaction files using Fixed Assets CS, click the CS Accounting Products option and modify the file locations as necessary.
  7. If you use FileCabinet CS, click the FileCabinet CS option and modify the file locations as necessary. If the proper FileCabinet data location is not available to select, see Setting up file locations for Fixed Assets CS and FileCabinet CS integration.
  8. Click OK.
