When opening applications on Windows 8 or 10, the screen may flicker and the application may not open. This is caused by an issue with the new Windows 8.1 DPI scaling function and commonly occurs with multiple monitors.

On Windows 8:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Display
  2. Check the "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" option.
  3. Then you must logoff.

On Windows 10:

  1. Right click on your desktop and choose Display settings.
  2. Click Display in the menu on the left.
  3. Click on each monitor and set them to the same DPI percentage using the slide bar below the monitors.
  4. You must sign out and back in to complete the steps.

Note: Chromebooks and similar tablet devices with Windows 10 may not show the DPI display settings or be able to see their multiple monitors when in "Tablet mode". The device may not automatically switch back to "desktop mode". To enable "desktop mode", press keys Win + P and choose Extend.
