Follow these steps to give a NetStaff CS user access to File Exchange folders or to remove a NetStaff CS user’s access to folders.

Notes

  • NetStaff CS users who have access to File Exchange folders can view files in and upload files to personal or shared File Exchange folders. To do this, choose the client portal from the File Exchange View field at the top of the File Exchange screen in NetStaff CS.
  • See NetStaff CS groups overview for information about giving NetStaff CS users access to modules at the group level.
  1. In the Admin tab of the navigation pane, click the Users link in the NetStaff CS section.

Note: If you don’t see this link, you don’t have access to this area.

  2. In the NetStaff CS Users pane, enter any part of the user’s name or login in the Find field and click the user’s name. NetFirm CS displays the user’s information on the right.

Tip: Delete the entry from the Find field to view the full list of users.

  3. In the Permissions section, click the Enable button for File Exchange.
  4. The steps required vary by folder type.
    Folder type Steps
    Personal

Give the NetStaff CS user access to some personal folders for some NetClient CS users

    1. With Personal selected in the Folder Types pane, mark the checkbox for a NetClient CS user whose personal File Exchange folders the NetStaff CS user needs to access, or unmark the checkbox for a NetClient CS user whose personal File Exchange folders the NetStaff CS user no longer needs to access.
    2. In the Folder Settings pane, do one of the following.
      • Leave the All button selected to give the NetStaff CS user access to all of the NetClient CS user’s folders.
      • Click the Selected button and mark the checkbox for each top-level folder that the NetStaff CS user needs to access, or unmark the checkbox for each top-level folder that the NetStaff CS user no longer needs to access. Note that only top-level folders are available in this list.
    3. Repeat steps a – b until the NetStaff CS user has access to the appropriate folders.

Give the NetStaff CS user access to all personal folders for all NetClient CS users

With Personal selected in the Folder Types pane, click the All button under Selection Type in the NetClient CS Users pane.

    Shared

Give the NetStaff CS user access to some shared folders for some NetClient CS users

    1. In the Folder Types column, click Shared.
    2. Mark the checkbox for each folder that contains files that the NetStaff CS user needs to access, and clear the checkbox for each folder that contains files that the NetStaff CS user no longer needs to access.

Note: If the NetStaff CS user has access to File Exchange folders through group permissions, the rows for those folders are not available. To remove the user’s access to the folders, you must remove the user from the group or remove the group’s access to the folder.

Give the NetStaff CS user access to all shared folders for all NetClient CS users

    1. In the Folder Types column, click Shared.
    2. Click the All Folders button under Access Permissions.
  5. Click Enter.

Note: If you’re enabling File Exchange permissions for the login you’re currently using, you may need to log out and back in before the changes take effect.
